I love my Nintendo....the only real Nintendo....the 8-bit system. Perhaps the unusual relationship I have with my beautiful gray console stems back to when I was a child. Apparently, when I was between the ages of 6 and 9, Santa Clause kept running out of Nintendos right before he reached our house. Unfortunate. On the other hand, I was allowed to rent a Nintendo for my birthday two different years, but I remember on my 8th birthday I was suspended from using it for a day because I "woke up too early to play." My parents were slave drivers. Consequently, I gained many new friends during that period of my life -- all of which owned their own Nintendo.

But on my 10th birthday, the skies parted, and God himself set before me my very own 8-bit system. The Christmas after brought with it Mario 3, and the good times have been rolling ever since.

Presently, my game collection has become somewhat unwieldy. Garage sales and second hand stores have fueled this addiction -- the $2 cartridge just can't be passed up, even if I have no idea what I'm buying. I've also upgraded to the top loading console, which requires neither the "dust blowing" nor "reset tap" techniques. I now live the life of luxury.
