Glomus - Demo

Overview

This Java applet provides a demonstration of our Glomus server by allowing you to play a game of Glomus against a collection of two "naive" automated players.

The applet connects to our Glomus server, requesting that a new game be started. The Glomus server populates the game with two additional automated computer players that play a legal but largely ignorant game. The Glomus server manages game play by coordinating the taking of turns, validating actions, and broadcasting information to all participating players as appropriate.

How to Play

Begin by connecting to our Glomus server to start the game. The server will spawn two players on the server machine for you to compete against, shuffle and distribute the "cards" and then begin the game.

The drop-down dialog box displays a record of the messages the applet has received from the Glomus server. At each step, the applet will display the action you need to take at the top of the applet. You will be asked to either:

Note that we have simplified the game a bit by eliminating the open space between rooms. Players move from room to room implicitly by making a suggestion that involves a room that is adjacent to their current location.
